Welcome to "Alimiyyah," a comprehensive course designed to introduce you to the fundamental principles and practical applications of Islamic jurisprudence. This course aims to provide a deep understanding of Shariah (Islamic law) and Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), equipping you with the knowledge to navigate and apply Islamic legal principles in everyday life.

Understanding Shariah: Gain a foundational understanding of Shariah, its sources, and its significance.
Principles of Fiqh: Learn the principles and methodologies of Fiqh and how Islamic laws are derived.
Practical Application: Apply Fiqh principles to contemporary issues and everyday scenarios.

Course Outline:

Introduction to Shariah and Fiqh
Definition and scope of Shariah and Fiqh.
The importance and objectives of Shariah (Maqasid al-Shariah).
Historical development of Islamic jurisprudence.

Sources of Islamic Law
The Quran: The primary source of Shariah.The Sunnah:
The practices and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).Ijma (Consensus) and Qiyas (Analogical Reasoning).
Secondary sources: Istihsan (Juristic Preference), Istislah (Public Interest), and 'Urf (Custom).


Schools of Islamic Jurisprudence
Overview of the major schools (Madhahib): Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali.
Differences and similarities between the schools.
The role of Ijtihad (independent reasoning) and Taqlid (following legal precedent).

Principles of Fiqh (Usul al-Fiqh)
Introduction to Usul al-Fiqh: The methodology of deriving Islamic rulings.
The concept of Ijtihad and its importance in Fiqh.Categories of rulings: Wajib (obligatory), Mustahabb (recommended), Mubah (permissible), Makruh (disliked), and Haram (forbidden).
